IT'S NOT ABOUT COMPLIANCE, IT'S ABOUT COMMUNICATION

TRAINING CULTURE
True dog training starts with understanding the animal. Before any command is taught, we ask:
why does a dog do what it does?
Our NePoPo®-based approach is rooted in canine psychology, conditioning theory, and the belief that a dog who wants to learn is infinitely more capable than one who is simply forced to comply.
Every program at MRK9 is built around:
Canine psychology — understanding motivation, drive, and learning theory
Conditioning — building reliable behaviors through proper marker and reward systems
Leash language — tactile pressure as clear, directional communication
Scaffolded progression — building behaviors with heart and soul, not shortcuts
Real-world proofing — skills that hold up outside the training yard
FOUNDATIONAL OBEDIENCE BOARD & TRAIN (3 Weeks)
Our most popular program. Your dog lives on-site at Miller Ranch K9 for three weeks, immersed in a structured learning environment. Includes access to our Foundational Obedience video series and 3 private lessons for the owner.
Upon completion, your dog will reliably perform:
Sit
Down
Loose leash walk / heel
Climb (hold position)
Recall
Suitable for all dogs — any age, breed, level of training, or temperament
INTENSIVE BOARD & TRAIN (4 Weeks)
Designed for dogs with behavioral challenges, reactivity, aggression, or owners who want the most immersive start possible. Four weeks on-site with 3 private owner lessons included. Same command foundation as the 3-week program, delivered with the depth and time required for more complex cases.
ADVANCED OBEDIENCE PROGRAM
For dogs who have completed the Foundational Program and are ready to work off-leash. E-collar is introduced in this phase — not as a correction tool, but as a precise communication system.
Upon completion:
Off-leash sit, down, heel, climb, and recall
Real-world reliability in distracting environments
PROFESSIONAL WORKING DOG PROGRAM (8 Weeks)
This is our premier working dog development program — an intensive, educational deep dive for serious handlers and working dog prospects.
Built on the NePoPo® framework, this program develops four foundational pillars:
Tracking — building drive, scent theory, and progressive tracking ability
Scent Detection — foundational imprinting and indication work
Drive Building — developing prey drive, toy drive, and engagement
Obedience — NePoPo® style, built for the working dog world
Includes crate training, environmental exposure, indirect/direct reward conditioning, 6 in person
lessons, and 4 online coaching sessions. Offered seasonally. Limited enrollment.
PRIVATE LESSONS & VIRTUAL COACHING
One-on-one in-person or virtual coaching tailored to your dog and your goals. Available as
